Masthead Name - Class Survey

After informing them on my magazine idea, I asked my AS Media class which masthead they liked best out of my favourite eight. These were the results:
  • Unsigned - ///
  • Underground - 0
  • Raw - 0
  • Undiscovered - //
  • Rough Noise - /////
  • Unrefined - /
  • Intrigue - ////////
  • Rough edge - /
Intrigue was the clear winner and so shows promise in appealing to my target audience (of which everyone in the class is in). But although it didn't get the most votes - three less then Intrigue - I've decided to use Rough Noise for my masthead as I believe it better suits the house style I have envisioned for my magazine. Intrigue's connotations are more technology based, making people think of computers and televisions, whereas Rough Noise's are more rustic and basically describe the genre's of music my magazine will be based around.

Readership Profile - Marcus

General Readership Profile

The target audience for my magazine will be mainly group E; students aged 15 to 25. Music will be a significant part of their lives and they will enjoy acoustic, folk and indie/alternative rock, most will also have a particular taste for obscure music artists. It will receive a lot of its interest from aspiring artists and people who want to go into the music industry, who will want to find out about gigs, open mike nights and competitions happening, but also read about successful people in the music industry to pick up tips.
